The Lake Almanor Rec Trail is commonly known as the paved U.S. Forest Service trail along the west shore of Lake Almanor. This 9.5+ mile bike ride isn’t too strenuous but does have minor elevation changes. Get ready for lake views, lots of nature, and an interesting mix of curves, flat areas, and hills on a well-maintained paved trail. It starts near the intersection of the Humboldt/Humbug Road, where you take the forest service trail all the way southeast near the lake and right past Plumas Pines Resort, ending near the Canyondam boat launch at the southeast corner of the lake. If you’d like to pick it up for a short ride or walk, it’s easily accessible near the Plumas Pines. There are several access points where you can park and ride or walk for any length of time.
