Because Plumas Pines Resort has lakes, mountains and streams all around it, there is always an abundance of activities to be done. This page is here to help give you ideas to kill a little bit of time or plan a day outing with family and friends. These activites include but are not limited to:

Almanor West Golf Course
is located only a few miles down the road. They offer a beautiful 9 hole golf course for the pro or first-timer.

Bailey Creek Golf Course
A recently finished championship 18 golf course located on the peninsula.

Fishing
Lake Almanor is home to species of small mouth bass, giant rainbow trout, german browns, coho and kokanee salmon as well as catfish. This provides great fishing year round especially in the spring and fall.

Butt lake is only ten minutes away and provides another reservoir of giant fish within a close distance.

Horse Back Riding
Located behind Plumas Pines is Plumas Pines Riding Stables. It is fun for all ages and is a great way to explore the surrounding forests. Horse back riding is available from Memorial Day Weekend until Labor Day Weekend. They can be reached at 530-259-5170

Ice Caves
There are numerous ice caves near Wilson Lake located off of Hwy 36. These caves provide hours of exploration for those that can withstand tight spaces and cold. These caves are created by lava and go upwards of hundreds of feet into the earth. They can display lots of ice in early summer and always show off neat rock displays. A powerful flashlight and warm clothes are a must. It is recommended that someone show you the way your first time as these caves can be dangerous and hard to find.

Lake Almanor Recreation Trail
This multi-use trail winds through beautiful stands of stately pine, fir and incense of cedar, as well as meadows, two campgrounds, and several lakeshore areas. The ten foot-wide paved path travels 11.2 miles from Lake Almanor West to the Canyon Dam Boat Launch. This trail can be hiked, ran, or bicycled. Motor vehicles are prohibited. Bicycle rentals are available at Bodfish Bicycles

Lake Activities
Lake Almanor offers just about anything you want to do. Summer water temperatures get into the mid 70's so cooling off and having fun is easy to do. Activities available include:
Skiing
wakeboarding
swimming
tubing
air chairing
kneeboarding
jumping off rocks
Kayaking/canoeing
Jet-skiing
The sky is the limit for what you can do.

Lassen National Park
Located only 45 minutes away, Lassen Park offers hiking trails, beautiful lakes, abundant wildlife and of course the spectacular 10,500' Lassen Peak. Climbing to the peak of Mt. Lassen is a 4 mile round trip hike. This is an easy hike for those that are in good shape and take the proper precautions. Please visit the U.S. Park Service website for more details.

Local Streams
also provide additional swimmimg and fishing opportunities. Streams are full of fish for the novice or well practiced fly-fishermen. Creeks and rivers also provide many locations swimming where you can get away from the crowds and enjoy a day of peaceful solitude.These locations include:

Muddling

Never heard of muddling? Head down to the naturally carbonated spring in Humbug valley to experience some of the best lemonade youve ever experienced. A great afternoon trip for the entire family with a great excuse to jump in the jeep or hop on the mountain bikes for a nice ride. Talk to locals to find out their favorite recipes and directions.

Snowmobiling

Although we are no longer open during the winter months, we do encourage you to come enjoy winter months up in the peace and quiet. There are numerous snowmobile clubs and hundreds of miles of groomed trails as well as deep powder hill climbs. Snowshoeing and x-country skiing is also a great way enjoy the backcountry and your possibilities are endless. Snowshoes and x-country skis are available for rent at Bodfish Bicycles.
